Lanes closed on H-1 westbound after excavator hits Aala Street overpass
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway remained closed Friday after officials said an excavator hit the Aala Street overpass.

The incident was reported at 10:45 a.m. and initially closed three lanes.
Oahu #hitraffic 6/26/26 10:49AM: Three left lanes of the H-1 at the Aala overpass is closed due to an excavator hitting the overpass and concrete falling into the lanes. The excavator is on the right shoulder near the School St. off-ramp.

Officials said a flat bed transporting an excavator hit the overpass, sending concrete onto the freeway lanes below. No injuries were reported.

Westbound traffic backup was heavy through the Punahou area as of noon.
The Honolulu Police Department is on scene. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.
