Crews battle fire at Lihue towing yard

LĪHUE (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Kaua‘i Fire Department is responding to a fire involving multiple vehicles in Līhuʻe.

The fire was reported at 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Kanakolu and Ehiku streets, where a towing yard is located.

Fire officials say crews have the fire under control despite active flames and smoke that were visible from miles away. They are also actively working to keep the fire from spreading to nearby brush and vegetation, officials said.

The department says there are no threats to nearby structures and no reports of injuries.

Residents and visitors are advised to avoid the area as crews work to extinguish the fire. The department is also requesting that all recreational drone activity in the area cease immediately due to safety concerns with Air 1.

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the incident, officials said.
