Oahu man charged in federal child porn case involving 15-year-old

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – An Oahu man has been charged with multiple federal offenses related to child pornography that allegedly involve a 15-year-old girl on Hawaii Island.

Jeramie Arend, 43, appeared in U.S. District Court Tuesday on charges of producing, receiving, and distributing child pornography following an FBI investigation.

According to court documents, Arend allegedly met the girl on Snapchat last year, and the two exchanged sexually explicit photos and videos for several months.

The FBI said Arend rented an Airbnb in Keaau last April, where he recorded them having sex.

Federal prosecutors requested that Arend be held without bail, saying he has a flight booked to Japan and poses a flight risk.
