The sentencing hearing for Kacey Kawika Jennings, 33, began Tuesday morning.

A jury on Monday found him guilty of capital murder in the death of Allison Maria Castro in 2022. She was 28 at the time.

Prosecutors say he shot her and then threw the gun and parts of her body into Beaver Lake. Jennings and Castro both graduated from Kealakehe High School before reconnecting on the mainland.
