The Honolulu stop is being billed as the band’s final return to the islands, a place Journey has long described as a “second home” after decades of performances in the state.
Journey, formed in San Francisco in 1973, has built one of rock’s best-known catalogs, including “Don’t Stop Believin’, ” “Any Way You Want It,” “Faithfully,” “Wheel in the Sky,” “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’ ” and “Lights.” The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
“Journey’s relationship with Hawaii is unlike anything we have seen with a mainland-based artist or group,” Rick Bartalini said in a statement. “For more than 50 years, they have returned to these islands again and again, from Diamond Head Crater to this final stop at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena, creating memories that span generations of local fans.”
Bartalini Presents said $1 from every ticket sold will support the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s flood recovery efforts for families and communities affected by recent Kona Low storms. The organization’s work includes direct assistance, rent assistance for displaced families, home repair support, agricultural recovery support, vehicle replacement assistance, and help connecting affected families with FEMA resources, according to the announcement.
Promoters said no mainland-based musical artist or group has performed in Hawaii more times than Journey. The band has played 34 times in the state since 1974, including 30 confirmed appearances on Oahu and 26 shows at the Blaisdell, according to Rick Bartalini Presents.

Journey’s first Hawaii appearance came Jan. 1, 1974, the day after its first public show at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom, when the band flew to Hawaii to perform at the Sunshine Festival, also known as the Diamond Head Crater Festival, for a crowd of more than 100,000, the promoter said.
