Hawaii high school graduates receive HMSA Kaimana scholarships

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Fifteen Hawaii high school graduates have been awarded scholarships through HMSA’s Kaimana Scholarship Program.

Hawaii Medical Service Association officials recognized the students during an awards ceremony Sunday at Oahu Country Club.

The program awarded a total of $75,000 in scholarships, with each recipient receiving $5,000 to help cover higher education expenses, including tuition, books, computers, and room and board.

“This is one of the most meaningful events of the year for HMSA,” said HMSA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mark Mugiishi. “It’s a privilege to recognize Hawaii’s best and brightest students and to reaffirm our commitment to investing in their futures as they go on to strengthen our communities.”

According to HMSA, students were selected based on academic achievement, athletic participation, community service, and healthy lifestyle activities.

The 2026 scholarship recipients are:

Hawaii County

Honolulu County

Kauai County

Maui County

The scholarship program is now in its 21st year and honors graduating seniors who demonstrate excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
