Man arrested in connection to violent Maui carjacking
HOOKIPA (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Kahului man has been arrested in connection with an armed carjacking that injured two people on Maui.

Maui police said a 34-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon on a $100,000 warrant related to the June 10 robbery. Authorities said he was also wanted on additional warrants totaling $320,000. He remains in custody.
The investigation stems from an incident reported around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday along Hana Highway between Hoʻokipa Beach Park and Kuau Cove.

Police said a 46-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were confronted by an armed suspect who demanded their vehicle. During the incident, both victims were struck by projectiles believed to have been discharged from the weapon before the suspect fled in the stolen vehicle. Both victims were treated and released at the scene.
