New list spotlights Hawaii’s friendliest small towns
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) — A new list is spotlighting several small towns in Hawaii that it describes as among the state’s friendliest.

In a WorldAtlas post, the site says that while Hawaii is known for its major resorts, “the true heart of the islands lies in its small towns and coastal villages.”
WorldAtlas’ list includes Haleiwa, Hawi, Kailua-Kona and Hanalei, along with Old Koloa Town, Waimanalo and Hilo.

“These communities regularly gather to preserve and celebrate traditional Hawaiian culture through seasonal festivals of food, art, and music,” the post said.
WorldAtlas also pointed to Haleiwa’s tight-knit surfing community and slower-paced lifestyle as reasons it stands out.
