Honolulu unveils Kokua Command Center to coordinate homelessness response

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A new headquarters is bringing key community service programs under one roof to better support residents across Oahu.

City leaders, state officials and community partners gathered Monday to bless the department’s new home at 222 N. School St.

The event featured the unveiling of the Kokua Command Center, a new coordination hub designed to improve collaboration among city agencies, healthcare providers, outreach teams, shelter operators and community organizations working to address homelessness.

“The Kokua Command Center is an unprecedented City initiative to address homelessness on Oahu through innovation and compassion,” Mayor Rick Blangiardi said in a statement. “The state-of-the-art facility is the result of years of intensive collaboration and data compilation from across the island.”

Officials said the new headquarters houses a variety of programs, including WorkHawaii, the Homeless Solutions Office, the Elderly Affairs Division, early childhood initiatives and the Kūpuna Resource Center.

“The work happening in this building is ultimately about people,” said DCS Director Anton Krucky . “Our goal is to help people access opportunities, build stability, and thrive.”

City officials said the new headquarters is intended to strengthen collaboration among departments and community partners while improving services for residents throughout Oahu.
