On Friday, the Honolulu Police Department said the teen was arrested on Thursday for first-degree attempted murder and three counts of second-degree attempted murder.

The charges stem from a shooting around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Halawa Housing area on Kohomua Street.

HPD Lt. Deena Thoemmes previously said the 15-year-old victim and two other teens had left their homes because of the heat and were hanging out in a walkway between two buildings.

Investigators said a light red sedan pulled into the parking lot, before a person wearing a ski mask and all-black clothing stepped out and approached the group.

The suspect reportedly raised what appeared to be a handgun and fired multiple times, striking the 15-year-old victim.

Officers located and arrested the 15-year-old suspect around 8:35 p.m.

Police said charges will be sought with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
