As Tropical Storm Nolo nears the state, leaders of The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course are most concerned with falling trees and storm runoff from residential neighborhoods.

The course was forced to close for two weeks in March following severe Kona low storms.

“We have experienced this year, unlike anything because I’ve been on the island for about 13 years and I ran another golf course on island and I haven’t seen anything like this in that time period,” Lief Smith, Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course director.

Leaders say the course could close again if it receives more than 4 inches of rain within 24 hours.
