Single-car collision damages utility pole in Laie, closes part of Kamehameha Highway
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A single-car collision in Laie damaged a utility pole in Laie early Sunday morning.

HPD has closed Kamehameha Highway in the area of Pounders Beach in Laie due to the traffic collision. A telephone pole was hit and is laying across the entire highway.
Vehicular traffic is being turned around in both directions. Foot traffic is also not permitted.

According to Hawaiian Electric, repairs to the telephone pole may take the entire day.
Officials are asking travelers to plan accordingly and avoid the area entirely until further notice.
