The Rainbow Wahine officially began the Khalilah Mitchell era.
Mitchell, a longtime assistant with the team, took over the program from longtime head coach Laura Beeman, who retired in March.
Coach K is wasting no time installing her fast-paced system, a blend of her playing days at LSU and what she learned from Beeman.
“It’s a style that I’m familiar with I played at LSU and I wanted to bridge that gap between what my experience as a player, what I’ve learned from Coach B, and what the roster, the personnel that we have,” Coach Mitchell said. “So blending all of that makes it very transition-forward, and it also makes it very focused on what their strengths are, so that’s the beauty of this offense.”

The squad is working on conditioning for the new tempo with only 12 players on the roster.
“I think it’s great for the girls, I mean, more reps for everyone in training, it’s more court time for everyone, you know, during the games,” Guard Bailey Flavell said. “I think, you know, it’s a great group of girls, so, yeah, I’m really excited.”
