Hawaiian Electric maps show there were multiple outages in the area, all of them started at 9:30 a.m.

As of 11:40 a.m. the maps showed nearly all power has been restored.

Reports have come into the newsroom that traffic lights in the area are down.

When traffic signals are out due to an outage, treat the intersection as a four-way (all-way) stop.

HECO started a series of meetings on Thursday in Kapolei, with plans to hold meetings around the state to look at Hawaiian Electric’s reliability during the recent Kona storms and hurricanes.

“Just with the power outages and all of that, I think inflation is going to be another tipping point in what is currently happening with the leeward coast,” Kapolei resident Leticia Hernandez told HNN.

Hawaiian Electric was not required to answer questions at the meeting, which the PUC said was primarily for public comments. Some said the meeting’s location — in Kapolei — felt out of touch.
