Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum unveils transformed galleries

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum at Pearl Harbor unveiled newly transformed galleries Wednesday as it marks its 45th anniversary.

The updated exhibits are designed to bring the history and operations of America’s submarine force to life through immersive displays and hands-on experiences.

New features include an exhibit on the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, an immersive look at submarine operations in the Arctic and enhanced submarine control room displays.

“The cold war gallery is where some of more fun interactive exhibits are. So, driving a submarine, driving a nuclear submarine through a path and it was very difficult,” said Peter Miller, chairman of the board of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Association

Visitors can also take part in an interactive “Earn Your Dolphins” challenge.

The museum held an invitation-only unveiling Wednesday morning at Pearl Harbor.

Guests were able to tour the new galleries, experience the interactive displays and visit the World War II-era USS Bowfin submarine.

The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum is located next to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial.
