Overnight water shutdown planned for parts of Kapaa

KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Water service will be shut off overnight Wednesday in parts of Kapaa as crews work on improvements to the Kapaʻa Homesteads water system.

The Kauai Department of Water said the shutdown will run from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, weather permitting.

The shutdown is needed so crews can install six connections for newly installed waterline infrastructure tied to the Kapaʻa Homesteads two 500,000-gallon tank project.

Two portable water tanks with drinking water will be available in the parking lot of Aloha Island Mart at 5665 Kawaihau Road. Customers must bring their own containers.

Work will take place near the intersection of Kawaihau and Kapahi roads, where drivers should expect one-lane alternating traffic.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to store enough water ahead of time and avoid using water-dependent appliances during the shutdown.
