Man critically injured after crashing into Pupukea utility pole

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A driver was critically injured after crashing into two utility poles in Pupukea Wednesday.

The Honolulu Fire Department said crews responded to the single-vehicle crash on Pupukea Road just before 7:40 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to find the driver partially ejected and pinned inside and underneath the vehicle, which had come to rest on its side after crashing through two utility poles.

Crews stabilized the vehicle and used hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver. The extrication was completed at 8:53 a.m., and the patient was turned over to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services for treatment.

HFD said no firefighters were injured during the response.
