Lanai Air launches daily round-trip flights between Molokai, Honolulu

MOLOKAI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Molokai residents now have another option for interisland travel with the launch of a new Lanai Air route connecting the island with Honolulu.

Lanai Air launched the service Wednesday, offering four daily round-trip flights between Molokai Airport and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

The flights use a Cessna SkyCourier, a twin-engine turboprop aircraft that seats 19 passengers and is operated by two pilots.

“We’ve seen many requests over the years to add more service to Molokai,” state Sen. Lynn DeCoite said. “Residents have made it clear that the need is there, so I’m glad to see that Lanai Air has listened and acted to bring more options to the community.”

One-way tickets are $169, which includes all taxes, fees, and two free checked bags.

The fare also includes airport lounge access and a complimentary shuttle service on Oahu between the Lanai Air hangar and the main terminal.

According to the airline, passengers can change flights with no fee up to two hours before departure, or cancel up to 48 hours in advance.

Lanai Air is also participating in the state’s Essential Rural Medical Air Transport pilot program, which provides free or subsidized flights for Molokai and Lanai residents who need to access medical care on other islands.

“Our community has been struggling to get to medical services on other islands,” said Lori-Lei Rawlins-Crivello, board president of Pulama Ka Heke. “Affording us the option of more airline seats is a huge advantage for our community.”
