The walk began at 9 a.m. and was organized by Susan G. Komen Hawaii to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Organizers said proceeds from the walk will advance Komen’s mission to fund groundbreaking research and provide direct support to those battling breast cancer.

“We want to make sure that no one dies from breast cancer,” said Rolanda Morgan, executive director of Susan G. Komen Hawaii. “Those people who support them, their families, their loved ones, their coworkers all get together for this one day and show their support for the individual and for the community as a whole.”
