How to help: Hawaii Foodbank’s annual Food Drive Day drop-off locations

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Hawaii Foodbank is holding its annual Food Drive Day on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Food insecurity affects approximately 463,000 individuals across the state, with thousands more on the verge — especially in the aftermath of Hurricane Lala.

“We had so many families who just can’t afford to lose their refrigerators full of groceries, so we really stepped up,” said Amy Miller, president and CEO of Hawaii Foodbank.

Hawaii Foodbank asks those who are able to donate shelf-stable food or monetary contributions.

Oahu drop-off locations

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Ala Moana Center, Ka Makana Aliʻi, and Pearlridge Center on their main entertainment stages. Each location will also feature live entertainment, giveaways, and educational opportunities.

Waianae Store

Shelf-stable food donations can be dropped off at the following retail locations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

Every dollar doubled

Hawaii Foodbank’s partners and sponsors will double every dollar donated to the food drive campaign, matching contributions up to $75,000.

“We’re so grateful to have all these amazing partners across the island who can help get meals out in community, to get groceries out in community,” Miller said.
