HNL travelers with checked bags urged to arrive early due to outages

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Travelers checking bags at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport are being urged to arrive earlier than usual Sunday.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation said passengers departing from Terminal 2 with checked luggage should arrive at least two and a half hours before their flight because of baggage screening equipment outages.

Officials said the outages are not affecting wait times at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints.

Canine teams are being mobilized to help minimize delays, but travelers with checked bags should continue allowing extra time until further notice.

Passengers who are not checking bags and those departing from Terminal 1 can continue following the airport’s normal arrival recommendations.
