Hawaii vendor interrupted by gunfire at Seattle food festival

SEATTLE (HawaiiNewsNow) – A food vendor with Waipahu ties was streaming live on social media when shots rang out at the Bite of Seattle food festival on Sunday.

Christopher Monterroso, of Hawaiian Honey Cones, was talking on Instagram Live when at least four gunshots rang out in the background.

“I will be live again Friday, Saturday, Sunday from Portland Oregon,” Monterroso began before shots ran out. “Make sure you subscribe. Help me get to 100,000.”

Suddenly, the tone of the video darkens, as the gravity of the situation changed in seconds.

Monterroso and others took cover while trying to protect their cash register and tip jar.

Crowds of people ducked and ran from the scene.

Several people were seen knocking down a fenced as they tried to get away as, officials say, three suspects fired shots.

Authorities say one gunman is dead, another is in custody, and police are still looking for a third “unknown” gunman.

Two bystanders were killed, and four others were injured in the shootout.
