Hawaii County to begin storm debris pickup in Kau
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii County will begin residential storm debris pickup in several Kau communities starting Monday.

Curbside pickup will run from Aug. 24 through Aug. 28 in Pahala, Naalehu and Waiohinu.

Residents are asked to separate bulky items from green waste and place debris along the curb or public right of way in front of their homes.

Officials said crews cannot collect debris left on private property.
Crews will begin in Pahala and work their way toward Waiohinu.
Solid waste transfer stations in Pahala, Waiohinu and Ocean View are also open seven days a week until further notice.
The Waiohinu transfer station is accepting green waste.
For Naalehu residents, roll-off containers for residential waste and bulky items are available at the O Kau Kakou property.
