First Alert Forecast: Trade winds to ease but still breezy to start the week

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Strong high pressure to the north will generate windy conditions into early Sunday, with a wind advisory extended for portions of all islands through 6 a.m. Sunday.

Trades will ease Sunday in the rest of the week with showers favoring the usual windward and mauka areas. Showers will be light to start the week, but there’s a First Alert for increasing trade showers and lighter trades around midweek.

Surf on south shores will be below average with only small south and southwest medium-period swells through midweek. A small swell generated by weakening Tropical Storm Genevieve far to the east will bring rough and choppy waves to east-facing shores. Surf on north and west shores will be small to flat.
