First Alert Forecast: Hurricane Warning posted for Kauai and Niihau, Flood Watch posted for all islands

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hurricane Warning has been issued for Kauai and Niihau. Hurricane conditions are expected in the next 24 hours. Impacts such as high surf and heavy rain could impact all of the islands. Coastal areas will be especially dangerous as Lowell moves to the north. Lowell remains a major category 3 hurricane with winds of 115 mph, it’s on a course which passes close to Kauai and Niihau late Monday through Tuesday.

A statewide Flood Watch is on until Tuesday morning, flooding conditions are possible for all islands. XL life-threatening surf from Lowell will rise for south and southwest shores through Wednesday, so a High Surf Warning is on statewide.
