The Honolulu Fire Department responded to Happy Days Chinese Seafood Restaurant on Waialae Avenue shortly after 1 p.m.
“I spoke to some of the people that were eating, and they said they were able to move out of the way,” said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Jacob A. Pekelo. “It wasn’t like a sudden boom. It was more of a gradual — it happened, then other pieces started falling, so everyone self-evacuated.”
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said four women in their 80s were evaluated at the scene.
