The unit, which receives about $3 million a year in federal funds, is responsible for investigating and prosecuting cases of Medicaid fraud.

The Trump Administration says Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez failed to consistently bring criminal cases against healthcare providers.

The Medicaid Fraud ​Control Unit is funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
