Hilo murder under investigation; unrelated to Puna manhunt, police say

HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – As Hawaii Island police hunt down a suspect linked to three murders in Puna, another murder is being investigated in Hilo.

Hawaii County police confirmed the murder investigation Thursday, and said it appeared to be unrelated to Puna incidents.

Witness images showed police tape and first responders around the Wailoa Art Center.

One bystander who didn’t want to be identified told Hawaii News Now they saw emergency crews treating a woman who appeared to be unconscious. She was put in an ambulance and taken away from the scene.

Additional details were limited and the police department says they plan to release more details in the afternoon.
