Man critically injured in Young Street stabbing

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man was critically injured Friday night after a stabbing in the Makiki area.

First responders were alerted to the stabbing at around 8:20 p.m. on the 1100 block of Young Street.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said paramedics treated a man in his 40s who suffered apparent life-threatening stab wounds.

EMS took the man to an emergency room in critical condition for further treatment.

The Honolulu Police Department classified the case as aggravated assault, but has since reclassified it as attempted homicide.

HPD has closed Young Street in all directions between Pensacola and Piikoi streets.
