UH softball downs UC Santa Barbara, 2-0 to advance to Big West semifinals

Timely offense and stingy defense catapulted the ‘Bows to a, 2-0 win over UC Santa Barbara.
Starting pitcher Taryn Irimata tossed a full game, striking out four Gaucho batters in the shutout.

Batters Millie Fidge and Carys Murakami helped drive in the two scores.
“Yeah, definitely one game at a time mentality, you know, focusing on what’s right in front of us,” Murakami said following the game. “It doesn’t matter who, you know, we got each other, no matter the opponent, we’re gonna come out swinging and we’re gonna do it as one group together, no matter what, for each other.”
UH will play host school and top-seeded Cal State Fullerton in the semifinals on Thursday, 10:00 a.m. Hawaii time.
