Following Wednesday’s Pro-Am events, official competition tees off Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at the Hoakalei Country Club.

Competitors are vying for a $3 million prize over 72 holes of play.

“The rain seemed not too friendly to us in the weekend, or might be a chance, but I think that the most key here is the wind picks up so strong,” World No. 2 Jenno Thitikul said. “… You might have a chance to not be (in) the rain at all or you might have a chance to like a heavy rain, plus a heavy wind.”

Reflecting on some great memories in Hawaii, former LOTTE champion Lydia Ko said she is excited for the week ahead.

“It’s been nice to see how the golf course is played differently just with all the different conditions,” Ko said.

This week also gives local golfers a chance to play a pro tournament in their own backyard, including Allisen Corpuz, Brittany Fan and Moanalua grad Lani Luafalealo – who makes her second start at Hoakalei.

“I think last year was just again it was my first time in tour so the pressure, the intimidation of the course, the atmosphere, the environment, it was just totally different from what I was used to,” Luafalealo said. “So I think I took the competition and the competitiveness from last year – that’s what I learned.”

Ahead of the tournament, organizers and culinary staff have also prepared to keep players fueled throughout the week.

Executive Chef Roy Wong detailed an extensive breakfast spread tailored for the international field, featuring local staples such as Portuguese sausage, fried rice and kimchi, alongside fresh omelets, turkey sausage, and sweet potatoes.

Spectators attending the tournament can expect a festive atmosphere on the grounds, with food tents and concessions offering hot meals and sandwiches stationed along the course.

The event continues to draw international attention to golf in Hawaii, broadcasting tournament coverage to viewers across Asia, Australia, and beyond while inspiring local young athletes across the islands.
