Ongoing infrastructure repairs following a Sept. 9 fire at the Līhuʻe Civic Center’s Kapule Building are also contributing to the delay.
The agency said timely payment to all program landlords remains a priority, while county staff work to return all County operations to normal as soon as possible.
Under the HAP contract and federal regulations, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program participants are not responsible for the housing authority’s portion of rent.
Participants cannot be evicted or penalized for payment delays caused by the storm and fire-related disruptions.
Program participants are reminded that they must continue to pay their tenant portion of rent as required by their HAP contract and lease agreement.
