First Alert Forecast: Tropical Depression, strengthening, expected to become a hurricane and threaten the state
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Tropical Depression 15-E is restrengthening and expected to become a hurricane on Thursday. Its forecast path takes it south of the islands, but close enough to bring flooding rain, especially to the east half of the state, along with gusty, possibly damaging winds from late today through Sunday. A flood watch has been issued from noon Wednesday to 6 PM Saturday for Maui County and the Big Island. Winds could intensify to advisory/warning levels starting on Friday through the weekend.
