Bank of Hawaii, University of Hawaii extend arena naming rights through 2037

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Bank of Hawaii and the University of Hawaii announced on Tuesday a seven-year extension to their naming rights agreement for the Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

The extension brings the contract to 17 years, ensuring the Bankoh Arena name will remain on the facility through June 30, 2037.

Last August, the iconic venue was officially renamed “Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.”

Bank of Hawaii has been a longstanding corporate partner and supporter of UH Athletics for decades. In 2020, the bank stepped up to help the athletics department navigate the financial challenges and disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The original naming rights agreement was a 10-year contract, and this year marks the seventh year of that commitment.

“Extending our naming rights for Bankoh Arena reflects our continued support for UH student-athletes and the important role this venue plays in bringing people together to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories for generations to come,” said Jim Polk, President and CEO of Bank of Hawaii.

The continued partnership supports the “Our Team, Hawaii’s Team Fund” within the UH Athletics Department. The extension will continue to provide programmatic, operational, administrative, and educational support to the athletics program.

These resources directly benefit student-athletes by funding academic support, student well-being, nutrition, operations, travel, equipment, and professional development.
