Lifeguard revives unresponsive man at Maili Beach Park

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A lifeguard revived an unresponsive man at Maili Beach Park Monday morning.

Honolulu Ocean Safety said a 41-year-old man was found on land about 150 yards from Lifeguard Tower 43A shortly after 10 a.m.

A solo lifeguard responded and found the man without a pulse and not breathing.

The lifeguard immediately began CPR, and after two cycles, the man regained consciousness and began breathing on his own.

Honolulu Fire Department personnel arrived shortly afterward to assist.

Honolulu EMS then took over with advanced life-saving treatment and transported the man to an emergency room in serious condition.

Ocean Safety is reminding beachgoers to swim near a lifeguard and seek help immediately during emergencies in or around the water.
