Motorcyclist seriously injured in Waianae hit-and-run

WAIANAE (HawaiiNewsNow) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Waianae Saturday morning.

Honolulu police said the crash happened around 11:40 a.m. on Lualualei Homestead Road near Moekahi Street.

Investigators said a 28-year-old motorcyclist was traveling west when an unidentified driver heading south on Moekahi Street entered the intersection into his path.

Police said the motorcyclist swerved into the eastbound lane to avoid a collision, continued onto the sidewalk and crashed into a wooden fence.

The other driver continued southbound on Moekahi Street without stopping.

The motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

Investigators said it is not yet known whether speed, drugs or alcohol were factors.
