Kapiolani Medical Center to host 20th annual Radiothon for Kids

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children will host its 20th annual Kapi‘olani Radiothon for Kids.

During the two-day event on Sept. 17 and 18, more than 50 community partners and sponsors will come together in Kapi‘olani’s dining room to support Hawai‘i’s keiki.

Patient families will share their stories of hope and healing from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on a live broadcast to raise funds for the medical center. Radiothon has raised more than $6 million to support programs, services and specialized equipment since it was created.

Longtime Kapi‘olani supporter and NFL quarterback Marcus Mariota recently showed support for patients at the medical center.

The Washington Commanders signal-caller spoke with families, posed for photos and gifted autographed footballs and posters. Mariota’s Motiv8 Foundation is among this year’s Radiothon supporters.

“More times than not, when I’m doing these visits, I leave way more impacted than probably some of these kids are,” Mariota said. “It’s just such a special time, a special moment to be able to share a little bit about who you are and also give a little bit of encouragement. It’s very meaningful for us, and a very emotional moment that I’ll look back on. I’m thankful that I got the opportunity to see it all.”
