Single-vehicle crash marks Oahu’s 28th traffic fatality in 2026

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A woman died following a single-vehicle crash in Kalaeloa early Sunday morning.

Honolulu police said the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Coral Sea Road.

Investigators said the 48-year-old woman was driving north when she failed to negotiate a bend in the road, drove onto the right shoulder and struck a tree.

She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, where she later died from her injuries.

Police said the woman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors, according to investigators.

This marks Oahu’s 28th traffic fatality of the year, compared with 63 at the same time in 2025.
