Man found dead in flood-ravaged Wainiha after Hurricane Lowell

WAINIHA (HawaiiNewsNow) – On Kauai, a man was found dead Friday in an area police said experienced heavy flooding during Hurricane Lowell.

According to the Kauai Police Department, officers responded around 1 p.m. to reports of a deceased man found in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Wainiha Powerhouse Road.

Police described him as a 59-year-old man from Wainiha. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected, police said.
