Suspect in deadly DKI Hwy. crash in South Kohala has bail reduced
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hilo man made his first court appearance Tuesday in connection with a deadly head-on collision on the Daniel K. Inouye Highway in South Kohala.

According to Hawaii Police Department investigators, Jeremy Alexander Fleming, 39, who allegedly was driving a blue 2023 Tesla, attempted to pass several westbound vehicles and entered the eastbound lane, fatally injuring motorcyclist William Joseph Simao, 55, and critically injuring Perry Keohuloa, 35, who was also on a motorcycle.

On Sunday, Fleming was charged with manslaughter, second-degree negligent homicide and first-degree negligent injury.

He made his initial appearance in Kona District Court Tuesday morning.
His bail was reduced from $400,000 to $300,000.
Fleming’s next hearing is set for Wednesday.
