Mountain View resident in custody after reported firearms incident in Puna
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii Island police arrested a 38-year-old resident of Mountain View on Thursday afternoon for the offense of possession of a pistol or revolver, following a firearms incident.

At 3:30 p.m., Puna officers responded to a residence on Hinuhinu Street following a report of a man in possession of multiple firearms.
Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the area in a vehicle, which was later located on a nearby dead-end road. Officers established a perimeter while the Hawaii Police Department’s Special Response Team was deployed to search.
At approximately 6:48 p.m., the suspect was located and arrested without incident. He was transported to the East Hawaii Detention Center in Hilo, where he remains in custody pending investigation.

Following the arrest, his vehicle was recovered pending the execution of a search warrant.
