Green Fee application deadline extended following Hurricane Lala

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The deadline to apply for one of the state’s Green Fee funding opportunities has been extended following Hurricane Lala.

The application deadline for the Hoola Aina program—which supports the implementation of community-based restoration of Hawaii’s forests, watersheds and wetlands—has been pushed to Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. HST.

The deadline was originally set for August 19. .

Applications also remain open for the Green Fee Outcomes Framework & Monitoring/Evaluation Dashboard, which are due Sept. 15 at 2 p.m.

Hawaii Green Growth has launched a Green Fee RFP Tracker to help organizations identify and keep track of available funding opportunities.

Community organizations, nonprofits, Native Hawaiian organizations, and conservation groups are encouraged to apply.

The Green Fee provides dedicated funding for environmental stewardship, climate resilience, hazard mitigation, and sustainable tourism projects statewide.

“The Green Fee is a transformational investment in Hawaii’s future,” said Kalani Kaanaana, CEO of Hawaii Green Growth. “We encourage every eligible organization with a project that supports stewardship, climate resilience, or sustainability to explore these opportunities and apply.”

Officials said additional Green Fee opportunities will be posted through the Hawaii Awards and Notices Data System.
