When will your internet return? Spectrum details restoration hurdles after Lala

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Spectrum is assessing damage to its network following Hurricane Lala, company officials said in a statement.

The service provider reported that service interruptions are largely aligned with ongoing power outages impacting the area. Power must be restored before crews can begin repairing network infrastructure damaged by the storm, officials said.

According to the company, technicians have already started making repairs to the network where access is available and conditions are safe for employees.

“We have hundreds of dedicated maintenance and field operations technicians who are working tirelessly to repair our network infrastructure that was damaged by the storm to restore services as soon as possible,” the statement said.

Free Wi-Fi access points opened statewide

To help community members stay connected, Spectrum has opened nearly 3,000 Wi-Fi access points across Hawaiʻi.

Officials noted that some of these access points may remain offline until local power is restored.
