Police shut down alleged illegal gambling rooms in Halawa

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Honolulu Police Department shut down two alleged illegal gambling operations in Halawa Tuesday.

HPD executed search warrants at two different warehouses on the same property on Iwaena Street around 5 p.m.

Officers from several HPD teams worked together on the operation.

In total, authorities reportedly seized 39 gaming machines, more than $22,900 in cash, illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia, all of which were submitted for evidence.

“Short-term enforcement operations have been effective in disrupting illegal game rooms, but they are only one part of our broader strategy,” said Maj. Jerome Pacarro, of HPD’s Narcotics/Vice Division. “Our longer-term investigations focus on identifying and holding those who facilitate, organize, and profit from these operations accountable.”
