Hawaii County to open shelters, adjust bus service ahead of Tropical Storm Lala

HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – As Tropical Storm Lala continues to steadily intensify, the County of Hawaii is preparing to open shelters.

Officials said shelters will open Friday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. Residents should bring their own food, water and necessary medicine.

Bus service

Hele-On Kako‘o Paratransit Services will end at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14.

All fixed route Hele-On buses and Paratransit services will be cancelled on Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16.
