Krishna Jayaram confirmed as Honolulu Managing Director

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The City and County of Honolulu has a new Managing Director.

Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi announced Wednesday that the City Council confirmed Krishna Jayaram as the new Managing Director, effective immediately.

Jayaram, has served as Deputy Managing Director since 2022, and assumed the role of Managing Director Designate after Mike Formby left the position in June.

“Krishna has earned the trust and respect of our entire administration through his steady leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and unwavering commitment to public service,” Blangiardi said. “He understands how this administration operates, knows our priorities, and shares my commitment to delivering results for the people of Oahu.”

The Honolulu Managing Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City government, coordinating with the City’s departments to advance the administration’s goals and projects.

Before working with the mayor’s office, Jayaram served as First Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City and as a Special Assistant to the Hawaii Attorney General.

“It is the honor of a lifetime to serve this incredible community in this role,” Jayaram said. “I look forward to continuing the work with our departments, business and community partners, and residents to ensure we provide the highest level of service to the people of Oahu.”

Joining Jayaram in the administration’s executive leadership team is Ian Scheuring, who has been appointed Deputy Managing Director. Scheuring most recently served as the mayor’s Deputy Communications Director.
