Maui students go behind the scenes of new “Spider-Man” movie

LOS ANGELES (HawaiiNewsNow) – The director of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” recently took some time to meet with some students from his home island.

Maui native Destin Daniel Cretton met several Maui student filmmakers in Venice Beach, California on July 14.

The students were among 140 storytellers from around the world who were invited to participate in the film’s Creator x Filmmaker Experience.

In addition to meeting Cretton, the students also spoke with the film’s director of photography Brett Pawlak, production designer Charlie Wood, the film’s stunt team, and other members of the creative crew.

The Maui students are part of Hisako Film Lab, a non-profit Cretton founded to develop the next generation of filmmakers in Hawaii.
