Maui youth program receives 200 soccer balls from FIFA World Cup donation

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hundreds of Maui keiki will have new sports gear thanks to a donation connected to the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

The County of Maui received 200 soccer balls from FWC2026 US Inc. for its Play-and-Learn Sessions (PALS) program.

The size 4 balls, designed for children ages 6 to 12, will be used in future PALS sessions, including the upcoming winter break program.

“The keiki were so excited to receive this tremendous gift,” said Ryan Min, a county recreation specialist. “Their faces all lit up as we opened the boxes, inflated the balls, and got them out on the field.”

The donation, which was officially approved by the Maui County Council in May, arrived just in time for the final week of the summer PALS program that ended July 24.

County Parks and Recreation Director Patrick McCall noted the equipment will support the health and well-being of local children for years to come.
