Hawaii Career Expo expands job opportunities across Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Hawaii Career Expo returned to the Blaisdell Center on Wednesday, connecting local job seekers with more than 100 employers.

The event featured recruiters from 16 city departments and dozens of private companies, spanning industries from healthcare to construction.

Job seekers were able to meet face-to-face with hiring managers, submit resumes, and even receive job offers on the spot.

“This is beneficial to everybody involved because it allows people to really go for what they want in life,” said Karlos Olsen, who is searching for a job in Administration. “It shows the diversity of how many people are actually out there looking for jobs, and it gives employers a bigger pool to get better quality employees that they’re looking for.”

Wednesday’s event was the third and busiest career expo hosted by the Star-Advertiser this year. Organizers said the expo is a crucial step toward expanding Hawaii’s workforce.

“A lot of people in our community don’t know about the opportunities that are available,” said Denise Ching, Director and Adviser of Operations at the Star-Advertiser. “Putting this event together here in Hawaii, bringing all the businesses together in one place, it helps our community and our people that are looking for jobs or need a career change.”

The Hawaii Career Expo is scheduled to return to the Blaisdell in October.
