Hawaii job growth expected to outpace the nation

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii’s job market is expected to grow over the next several years, according to the latest job and industry forecast from the Hawaii Department of Labor.

Forecasters predict a net gain of 28,060 jobs by 2034.

Total employment is expected to increase 4.1% from 2024 to 2034, outpacing the national growth rate of 3.1%. The projections are based on 2024 employment data.

About 82,070 job openings are expected each year during the forecast period. About 4% of them from new job growth, with the remainder from workers changing occupations or leaving the workforce.

The fastest growth is projected in Health Care and Social Assistance (11.2%), Accommodation and Food Services (6%), and Construction (5.4%).
